“Between Harmony and Noise” – An Artistic Interpretation
The painting “Between Harmony and Noise” by Shenay Ramada explores the fragile boundary between inner calm and external chaos, between the melody of the soul and the fragmented sounds of the contemporary world. It is a canvas about choice — whether to remain within one’s inner silence or dissolve into the noise that surrounds us.
On the left, a female profile dominates the composition. Her eyes are closed, immersed in contemplation. Her face glows in warm, golden tones, as if illuminated from within. Her hair transforms into stylized botanical forms — leaves that evoke the natural rhythm of life, growth, and the harmony between human beings and nature. This is the image of the inner world — whole, breathing, organic.
Around and behind her unfolds another realm — dynamic, fractured, and saturated with contrasting colors. The piano, whose keys frame the composition, becomes a central symbol. It is the instrument of harmony, yet here its keys are scattered and disrupted, as if music itself has lost its order. The black and white elements turn not only into tones, but into strikes, noise, and interruptions.
Within the flowing colors appear human figures — white, almost weightless, as if floating or falling. They represent people lost in a stream of sounds, information, and emotions. Some seem to drift freely, others lose their balance. This is a metaphor for modern existence — a constant movement between inspiration and overload, between freedom and disintegration.
“Between Harmony and Noise” does not rigidly oppose these two states, but places them in dialogue. The artist suggests that noise is an inevitable part of life, while harmony is an inner choice. It is not found in a perfectly ordered world, but in the human ability to preserve an inner melody even when everything around is fractured and loud.
