Between Two Worlds

Senay Ramada

The painting “Between Two Worlds” by Senay Ramada is a poetic allegory of the human inner state — a reflection on choice, balance, and transition between different dimensions of existence.

At the center of the composition, two contrasting fish — one red and one blue — meet. They rise above the others, as if swimming not in water, but in light or air. This impossible setting suggests that the scene is not literal, but symbolic — a space between the physical and the spiritual, between instinct and awareness, between past and future.

The red fish embodies passion, movement, and earthly energy. The blue fish represents calm, intuition, and spiritual clarity. They are not in conflict; instead, they exist in a harmonious tension, reminding us that opposites are not always enemies — sometimes they are necessary to one another.

Around them, smaller fish follow established paths, moving with the current. They symbolize routine, everyday life, and collective consciousness. The central figures, however, break away from this order — an act of conscious choice and the pursuit of an individual path.

The landscape, resembling a green corridor or garden, draws the viewer inward toward the light at its center. This space can be interpreted as an inner world — a place of reflection and transformation.

“Between Two Worlds” speaks of the moment of transition — when one no longer fully belongs to the old, nor has yet entered the new. It is in this in-between space that change is born: the silence between decisions, the moment of awareness, and the courage to swim against the current.
